In a recent interview with SecondsOut former world champion in two weight categories Evander Holyfield recalled his confrontation with the legendary British heavyweight Lennox Lewis. In particular, he expressed the controversial idea that won by Lewis in a rematch, but the judge allegedly gave the victory to the Lennox.
British ex-champion reacted to the statement of Holyfield on his Twitter page. He made it clear that he respects the former opponent, but strongly disagree with his statement.
“I have always said that Evander Holyfield was my most difficult opponent… We’ve been through 24 rounds. However, the first fight was not a draw, but the second match is not a gift. I have won twice. Evander knows this, even if you do not recognize it,” wrote Lennox Lewis.
I’ve always said @holyfield was my toughest opponent… we went 24 rounds together…but the first fight wasn’t a draw and the second fight wasn’t a gift. I won BOTH. He knows that… even if he won’t admit it. 😂😉 #StillMyBrother https://t.co/CPxqoIlmKq
